Educational Philosophy

Agency • Community • Transformative Learning

"Theatre is not the outcome; it is the vehicle. Success is measured not only by what students accomplish on stage, but by who they become along the way."

— Emily Garven, Artistic Director

At Arlington Children's Theatre, we believe theatre is a powerful tool for youth development. Through every class, production, workshop, and leadership opportunity, we strive to cultivate Agency, Community, and Transformative Learning in every young person we serve.

The ACT Framework

Agency

We empower young people to use their voices, take ownership of their learning, solve problems, and become leaders within their communities.

Community

We cultivate inclusive environments where students develop empathy, build meaningful relationships, and experience a true sense of belonging.

Transformative Learning

We provide meaningful artistic experiences that challenge students to grow in confidence, creativity, resilience, and skill while pursuing artistic excellence.
We believe in holding young people to high expectations while providing the support, mentorship, and encouragement they need to succeed.

At ACT, students don't just learn theatre; they develop the confidence, empathy, leadership, and life skills needed to thrive both on and off the stage.
